Excite Japan Co., Ltd. was established in 1997 as a joint venture, with Excite Inc. of the U.S. and the ITOCHU Corporation Group as the major shareholders. Thereafter, Excite Japan has pursued an independent strategy in developing its Internet business in Japan. Thus the listing of our stock in November 2004 was the result of the tremendous progress we had made in establishing our business base in Japan. Starting with operation of a portal site, our business model has grown through being focused on services targeted at women.
Our revenue is derived from placed-advertising by companies as a media content portal, Internet-connection service fees and the provision of paid content to users.
